Canadian cell phone plans
Does anyone know if there is a way to keep my us phone number on a Canadian cell phone plan?

FYI you can get the same unlimited coverage on your Verizon US plan in both Canada and Mexico included. No hoops to jump through, nothing extra to sign up for. I have a Verizon plan and just took a trip to Canada and my phone worked the same.
Depending on what you use it for, it might be worth just eating the monthly cost to keep it as a US number if you can access everything via WiFi calling (or just having "some" US number anyways).
Beware of the fact that many services won't send one-time codes to numbers managed by services like Google Voice and VoIP providers.
T-mobile has their "connect" plans (hard to find without googling), and Mint Mobile also has pretty cheap options.
I moved to Canada a couple of years ago! When I looked into this then, I concluded:
- You can't transfer a US number to a Canadian plan
- Voip may not work well if you need to receive 2fa messages
- Many US plans that offer international have fine print limiting how long you can be out of the US with that plan. Reviews on if this was enforced were mixed, but I didn't want to risk it
Currently I have kept my US plan (on Ting) in addition to a CA plan (Public Mobile) and do all my calls to the US from my CA plan because it's cheaper that way. I expect to keep both for the foreseeable future
Maybe port it to a VoIP service (like Google Fi, which also offers additional services like SMS) and then link it to your Canadian phone via the app.
