Meeting FI-Minded People While Traveling
How can I meet up with local FI-minded people when I'm traveling?
I can't find a better place on the forums to ask this (or a better topic in the dropdown), but it would be great if I could ask in a local group or something if anyone wants to get together and chat. I'm guessing that this is not a good reason to apply to the local group, especially if I'm only there a few days, and asking in the global ChooseFI FB group seems excessive.
For context, I'm currently in Glasgow, Scotland. It doesn't look like there are any local groups for here, but there may be for parts of England that I visit on this same trip.
It would also be nice for people considering moving to an area.

Check out GoWithLess Facebook group. Every Sunday there is a where in the world are you post. We've had meetups all over.

I have the same issue. I am a traveler and am working towards FI currently while completing a fellowship in India. I plan to take a travel sabbatical soon (I am a mid-career professional), but I very much want my travel to be about building and sustaining connections. I have been in the Facebook group GoWithLess - Nomadic Life, Early Retirement, Travel Hacking, House Sitting.
That group has been great for connecting and getting information. Some people do actually meet up in person, although I have just participated in virtual meet-ups.
Yep it's allways a challenge. Go With Less is a good option, also there is a Spain and Italy CampFi this year (I'll be at the Spain one)

? I was wondering if it might be useful? Also a friend just sent me to Freaking Nomads and it has lists of Discord groups, Slack groups, Whatsapp groups, etc… So maybe I'll give some of those a shot. It would be cool if the ChooseFI "local groups" also had a nomad group, but I know it would be pure chaos, because we all go everywhere constantly lol

, I guess?) is another great place that helps you see who will be where, when, and if it overlaps with when you'll be there.
I would also like to connect with FI-minded people whilst travelling!
In the UK you might have some luck with the Rebel Finance School meetups (they have local WhatsApp groups) but I'm not sure if they would be open to visitors dropping in? Perhaps post a request on the RFS FB group as a start?

Yeah, I have a similar goal. I don’t think we’re there yet, but that is definitely one of the finish lines to get to where you can find people that have experience in an area and get some insight from them
If you go to the groups and you go to countries and look up United Kingdom, you could see. I think there’s currently 294 members.
And that group for the country of the United Kingdom might be a good place to post as well
